Allegedly Drunk Driver Causes Three Separate Accidents in Albuquerque

Free Consultation
October 3, 2013 | Posted in Drunk Driving, Firm News

An allegedly intoxicated hit-and-run driver recently caused numerous crashes near Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque. According to Albuquerque Police Department Officer Simon Drobik, the apparently drunk driver struck two separate vehicles and drove in the wrong direction on a one way street before he hit a tree while he was reportedly fleeing from college security officers. Following the third and final crash, the man reportedly measured a 0.18 blood alcohol content. He was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital for medical treatment. Drobik said the man will face charges for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a traffic wreck once he is released.

Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt in either of the vehicles the allegedly drunk driver collided with. Sadly, that is not always the case. Every year, automobile accidents are one of the leading causes of personal injury claims filed in New Mexico. Motor vehicle crashes may be caused by any number of factors including a drunk or otherwise impaired driver. Alcohol-related crashes like this one are common across the State of New Mexico. Everyone who travels on the many interstates, highways, and other roadways located throughout our state is placed at risk whenever a drunk driver makes the choice to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. Although many car crashes will be minor, they can also result in tragic fatalities.

As occurred here, criminal charges are often filed when a driver is accused of operating a vehicle while impaired. Regardless, a crash victim who was hurt by an allegedly intoxicated motorist may file a lawsuit to collect any damages such as medical expenses and lost wages that resulted from the collision. Oftentimes, liability insurance limits are insufficient to cover all of an injured victim’s damages. In the State of New Mexico, a case may also be filed against a restaurant or bar at which an inebriated motorist who caused an accident was served alcoholic drinks. Dram shop lawsuits, however, can be extremely complex. A quality New Mexico drunk driving lawyer can explain so-called dram shop cases in more detail.

Do the attorneys have a history of winning cases like mine?

Do I trust the attorneys to act in my best interest rather than their own?
